Installing Grainsmith on macOS

Double-click the downloaded .pkg and click through the installer. The standalone app and AU, VST3, and AAX plugins are placed in their standard system locations automatically: nothing to drag, nothing to copy.

Click Customize on the installer’s summary screen if you want to deselect a plugin format you don’t need.

After installation, your DAW may need a plugin rescan before Grainsmith shows up in its instrument or effect lists.

Installing Grainsmith on Windows beta

Run the downloaded .exe and click through the installer. The standalone app and the VST3 plugin are placed in their standard locations: the VST3 goes to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 so any compatible DAW can find it.

As with macOS, your DAW may need a plugin rescan before Grainsmith appears in its instrument or effect lists.

The Windows build is still in beta and isn’t as battle-tested as the macOS release. If something doesn’t behave, let me know. Bug reports genuinely help.
